NOVA Broadcast Research Internship - Fall 2026

About the role#

The NOVA Broadcast Research Internship offers students the opportunity to work closely with the editorial staff of the NOVA television series, including producers, science editors, and associate researchers. Interns gain practical experience in the research and development process for broadcast television, participating in editorial meetings and reviewing film cuts. This role provides exposure to science storytelling, digital video production, media rights, and audience development.

What you'll do#

• Fact-check film scripts and research storylines for upcoming programs.
• Identify potential interview sources for documentaries.
• Review films for potential acquisition and evaluate past films for rebroadcast.
• Develop ideas for future programming.
• Assist other teams as needed.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong interest in science, technology, research, and communications.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Personal computer and reliable internet access.

Location & details#

• Term: Fall 2026 (September 14 to December 5).
• Modality: Remote or Hybrid. Hybrid staff are expected to work onsite at 1 Guest Street, Boston, MA, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
• Compensation: This is a paid, part-time internship at $17 per hour for 20 hours per week.
• Preferred Majors: Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, Psychology, and Political Science.
