About the role#
The 2026 Fall Opinion Intern will join the team in Louisville, Kentucky, to contribute to the selection, editing, and digital optimization of opinion content. This program offers one-on-one coaching and mentoring for individuals interested in opinion journalism, communications, and digital development. Interns will work both independently and in close collaboration with the opinion editor to elevate community discourse.
What you'll do#
- Prepare guest columns and letters to the editor for publication.
- Perform copyediting, fact-checking, and headline writing.
- Create social videos to promote content and support digital development.
- Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to newsroom and companywide opinion projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a degree-seeking student at a college or university.
- Completion of at least two years of college and at least one previous internship.
- Strong command of the English language and excellent communication skills.
- Organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain adaptable and flexible.
- Preferred majors include Communications, Journalism, English, Political Science, or Media Studies.
