2026 Fall College Sports Intern

About the role#

The Columbus Dispatch is seeking a fall intern to produce multi-platform content covering Ohio State football. This role focuses on capturing the moments that matter on and off the field for local and national audiences. You will work within the newsroom to create engaging, high-quality content that resonates with fans and the community.

What you'll do#

• Film and edit short-form video content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
• Craft written stories and profiles.
• Capture on-camera moments, including interviews, player spotlights, and facility recaps.
• Produce creative, engaging clips for distribution across the USA TODAY network.
• Appear on the YouTube channel and participate in podcasts.
• Monitor social trends, audio, and formats to suggest authentic ways to integrate them into our coverage.
• Capture content at games, practices, and community settings.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or graduation from a college journalism, communications, media studies, or marketing program.
• Passion for storytelling through writing and 60–90 second video formats.
• Proficiency in filming and editing short-form video directly on a mobile device.
• Comfort appearing on camera and coaching others for on-camera segments.
• Strong understanding of performance metrics and content strategy for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
• Ability to work independently once trained and maintain an organized workflow.
• Flexibility to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
• Reliable transportation to travel to off-site assignments.
