About the role#
The FSView Student Journalist Intern position offers hands-on experience within a professional newsroom environment. Interns report, write, and produce content for the website, newsletters, and social media platforms, covering breaking news, campus developments, student life, local government, sports, and arts and culture. This role provides an opportunity to develop reporting, writing, multimedia, and audience engagement skills while working directly with editors and professional advisers.
What you'll do#
- Report and write accurate, timely, and engaging news and feature stories.
- Attend events, meetings, and newsworthy developments on and around the FSU campus.
- Conduct interviews with students, faculty, administrators, and community leaders.
- Produce content that meets AP Style and FSView editorial standards.
- Create multimedia content, including photos, video, and social media posts.
- Generate story ideas and collaborate with editors to improve storytelling and accuracy.
- Participate in newsroom meetings and planning sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Florida State University or another Tallahassee-area college or university.
- Strong interest in journalism, communications, digital media, or related fields.
- Excellent writing, reporting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital storytelling tools.
- Strong news judgment and curiosity about campus and community issues.

- Location: Tallahassee, Florida (Florida State University campus).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: On-site.
- Status: Part-time, up to 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: Paid at $18 per hour.
