About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to gain experience in transit and rail engineering. You will work alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects, receiving mentorship and guidance throughout the summer. This is a full-time, paid position based in Seattle.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate on railway and transit projects while assisting in design and development.
- Support engineers by reviewing project requirements and proposing solutions.
- Perform engineering calculations for system design and analysis.
- Assist in designing railway system layouts and coordinate with multiple disciplines.
- Participate in field surveys and contribute to project documentation, including technical drawings and reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program, pursuing a bachelor or master degree.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Demonstrated interest in transit and railway engineering through prior internship or applied coursework.
- Proficiency in data analysis and strong problem-solving skills.
- A self-motivated approach to learning and strong communication skills.
- Experience with Bentley Rail Track and familiarity with railway and transit engineering principles is preferred.

- Location: Seattle, Washington.
- Term: Summer 2027 (Mid-May through mid-August).
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Employment Status: Full-time, hourly.
- Compensation: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour, depending on experience and location.
