About the role#
Freese and Nichols is hiring a GIS intern for the Stormwater team in Houston, Texas. This internship provides exposure to how geographic information systems support planning, engineering, and infrastructure projects.
What you'll do#
- Create and update maps, figures, dashboards, and spatial datasets under supervision.
- Support the configuration and testing of GIS services and web applications.
- Conduct basic spatial analysis, geoprocessing tasks, and data quality checks.
- Maintain GIS databases, metadata, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with project team members to meet project deliverables and deadlines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS degree program in Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Experience with Python, ModelBuilder, CAD, or MicroStation.
- Involvement in student organizations.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Houston, Texas, and requires daily attendance in the office.
- No relocation or housing stipends are provided.
