About the role#
As a Process Engineering Intern, you will help develop and refine processes for metal 3D printing systems. You will work with experienced engineers to study multi-physics behavior within the printing process. This role involves collaborating with mechanical, software, and simulation teams to analyze data and contribute to the improvement of printing technology.
What you'll do#
- Assist the team in developing a deep understanding of metal additive processes and hardware operation.
- Analyze massive in-situ data sets to gain insight into the physical mechanisms of printing.
- Execute experiments and analyze data to improve metal additive processes.
- Perform post-build metrology measurements and analyze material properties, such as tensile strength, surface roughness, and alloy microstructure.
- Assist in the development and implementation of tool qualification procedures.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in material science, physics, or a similar engineering discipline.
- Experience with experimental design and statistical data analysis.
- Strong data analysis skills and the ability to interpret information from large data sets.
- Experience with Python or MATLAB.
- Preferred experience includes undergraduate research in material science, physics, or mechanical engineering, or process development experience in industries like semiconductor, solar, or displays.
- Familiarity with statistical software such as R, JMP, or Minitab is helpful.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
Location & details#
