About the role#
The Youth and Educator Social and Emotional Learning (YESEL) Lab at foundry10 is hiring a Graduate Student Researcher. You will work with Dr. Helen Lee on research projects focusing on social and emotional learning, technology in teacher preparation, youth sports, and the role of school counselors. This is a part-time position requiring 10 to 15 hours per week over a 32-week term. You will assist in all stages of the research process, from study design and recruitment to data analysis and writing.
What you'll do#
- Develop and execute research projects for the YESEL Lab.
- Search for, review, and synthesize relevant literature.
- Prepare IRB approval forms.
- Lead and support online and in-person recruitment efforts.
- Support survey design, including testing and suggesting changes.
- Lead and support data collection, such as conducting interviews and focus groups.
- Prepare and analyze data, including qualitative coding and content analysis.
- Contribute to written reports, journal articles, and research-informed resources for educators.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a doctoral program (PhD) in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related social science field.
- Advanced training in qualitative research methods.
- Experience with participatory or applied research methods.
- Competence in research software such as MAXQDA, Qualtrics, Canva, and Google Suite.
- Experience writing for academic audiences.
- Ability to organize and prioritize competing tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Location & details#
- This is a hybrid position based in Seattle, Washington.
- You must live in Washington state to apply.
- The role involves travel within the Seattle metropolitan area for data collection and site visits.
- This position is paid at $48 per hour.
- We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
