About the role#
As a Hardware Test Engineering Intern, you will join the Hardware Reliability Engineering team to ensure our 3D printers are reliable and ready for production. You will run tests, partner with engineering teams, and report findings that directly influence future printer features and settings. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Somerville, Massachusetts for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Develop, execute, and manage validation test plans at the system, subsystem, and component levels.
- Perform hands-on, data-driven root cause analysis to triage electromechanical systems and field failures.
- Design, build, and implement automated testing equipment for reliability, environmental, and subsystem characterization testing.
- Collaborate with design teams throughout the product development cycle to conduct risk assessments and contribute to design reviews.
- Work across teams to ensure comprehensive system validation.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering program.
- Experience with complex electromechanical systems and a focus on reliability.
- Ability to develop and execute full system test plans within tight product development timelines.
- Experience testing various sensors, actuators, and mechanical components.
- Proficiency in prototyping and running tests from initial experimental setup through hardware and software implementation.
- A portfolio of previous engineering work or projects is recommended.
- Familiarity with Linux systems, scripting languages (Python preferred), and HALT/HASS testing is a plus.

- Employment type: Full-time.
- Compensation: Paid position with a bi-weekly pay range of $3,150 to $3,900 USD.
