About the role#
As a Global Operations Intern, you will work with our team to manage the components that make our products possible. You will balance the need for lower costs with the requirements for high performance and reliability. This role provides hands-on experience in supply chain management, strategic sourcing, and procurement processes while supporting the introduction of new products.
What you'll do#
- Work directly with current and potential suppliers to keep our material pipeline flowing.
- Support supply chain risk assessments and contingency planning.
- Develop strategies to optimize suppliers for cost, quality, and supply resilience.
- Conduct market analysis to provide sourcing insights.
- Support the team in managing purchase orders, invoices, and supplier communications.
- Lead supplier sourcing, qualification, and negotiation processes.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and manufacturers to ensure timely development builds and transition to mass production.
What you'll need#
- A technical or engineering background.
- Interest in sourcing, contacting, and evaluating potential suppliers for quality, reliability, cost, and capacity.
- Ability to work with a variety of teams, communicating effectively in-person and remotely.
- Strong organization and focus, with the ability to handle concurrent conversations and projects while documenting progress.
- Leadership experience and exposure to project management.
- An eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
- Preferred: Manufacturing and procurement experience, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and product development experience.
- Preferred: Familiarity with quality control, such as part inspection and corrective action.
- Preferred: Experience with manufacturing technologies like injection molding, machining, sheet metal stamping, bending, forming, and SMT.
Location & details#
- Location: Somerville, MA (On-site).
- Term: Winter 2027 (January to April).
- Commitment: Full-time.
- Compensation: $1,575 to $1,950 per week, paid bi-weekly.
