About the role#
First Quality is seeking an EHS Intern for our Summer 2027 program in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. This is a full-time, paid internship designed to provide hands-on experience in the operation and support of environmental, health, and safety programs. You will work on projects aimed at maintaining an accident-free work environment and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.
What you'll do#
- Plan and carry out safety policies that align with local, state, and federal OSHA regulations.
- Support the goal of a zero-injury culture through active participation in safety and injury prevention programs.
- Conduct regular safety walk-throughs to identify hazards, document findings, and track corrective actions.
- Assist with incident investigations, mitigation, and reporting processes.
- Facilitate safety orientations for new hires and communicate safety standards to visitors, contractors, and vendors.
- Manage administrative tasks including training records, OSHA log updates, and accident reporting.
- Support workers compensation administration and the Return-to-Work program.
- Help identify and control hazardous working conditions or unsafe activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or completion of a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Up to 3 years of experience, which may include relevant academic projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems, work well in a team, and manage multiple priorities.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.

- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for long periods, and navigate the facility including climbing steps and bending. You may work in various temperatures and environments requiring ear, eye, and foot protection.
