About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. You will work on-site to gain hands-on experience in high-speed manufacturing by identifying and fixing issues that affect production equipment efficiency. You will learn to use real-time software, electrical drawings, and multimeters to diagnose electro-mechanical machinery.
What you'll do#
- Observe OSHA and company safety rules while identifying electrical hazards.
- Work with experienced technicians to diagnose machine problems using laptops, PLC interfaces, and electrical schematics.
- Assist with preventative maintenance tasks such as backing up programs and checking safety systems.
- Organize equipment documentation, including OEM manuals and troubleshooting guides.
- Analyze data from event logs, historian data, and operator feedback to identify trends.
- Devise and perform tests to find the root cause of machine issues.
- Communicate with production and maintenance staff to understand efficiency requirements.
- Share your findings and techniques with team members to improve machine controls.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma with Mechatronic experience, or current enrollment in an Associate degree program for Industrial Automation, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Programming experience in at least one language.
- Proficiency with personal computers, including controls programming software, email, spreadsheets, and project management tools.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Ability to perform physical tasks like stooping, climbing, and lifting up to 30 pounds frequently, or 100 pounds with assistance.
