Engineering Internship - Documentation & Process Improvement

About the role#

Findorff is seeking an Engineering Intern to support engineering and operations teams at the Sheboygan Falls plant. This role focuses on documentation, process improvement, and small project support, providing hands-on exposure to plant operations, efficiency initiatives, and safety protocols.

What you'll do#

• Create, update, and maintain engineering and operating documentation, such as SOPs, work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
• Assist with small, well-defined projects from scoping through execution, including scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
• Identify process improvement opportunities by collecting data, analyzing root causes, and proposing actionable solutions.
• Support standardization and digitization efforts, including forms, checklists, and electronic records.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and HSE, to ensure alignment and compliance.
• Assist with project documentation, risk assessments, and change control records.
• Participate in plant improvement initiatives, such as small experiments, trials, or pilot implementations.
• Present findings and recommendations to supervisors or project teams.
• Follow site safety procedures and contribute to a safe, environmentally responsible work environment.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, or a related Engineering field.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with CAD software, EHS systems, or document management tools is a plus.
• Detail-oriented approach with strong organizational and time-management skills.
