Webber - Field Engineer Intern I - Infrastructure

About the role#

The Field Engineer Intern I role is a 12-week program designed to provide hands-on experience across multiple facets of heavy civil and infrastructure construction. Interns support various project roles while gaining exposure to safety protocols, surveying, estimating, project supervision, and field engineering tasks.

What you'll do#

• Provide on-hand support to various roles within the organization.
• Gain a practical understanding of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Hazard Safety Observations (HSO).
• Observe and prevent safety incidents and conduct jobsite audits while applying required personal protective equipment.
• Learn to interpret plans and set layouts.
• Assist with surveying for quantities and gain knowledge in accurate surveying practices.
• Assess man-hours, time, and material requirements for production.
• Communicate and delegate work plans to field crews.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a 4-year degree program for Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Science, or Construction Management.
• Full understanding of Construction Math concepts.
• Moderate to high proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to perform moderate to high levels of physical activity in a field-based construction environment.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to handle items and work with fingers.
