This is a 12-week internship program designed to provide hands-on experience within the Heavy Civil division. Interns gain exposure to core operational areas including safety, survey and estimating, project supervision, and field engineering.
What you'll do#
- Gain an understanding of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Hazard Safety Observations (HSO).
- Apply necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all jobsite activities.
- Observe and prevent safety incidents while conducting jobsite audits.
- Learn to interpret project plans and set layouts.
- Understand survey procedures for quantities, including conversions and accurate surveying practices.
- Assess man-hours, time, and materials required for production.
- Communicate and delegate work plans to field crews.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year degree program for Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Science/Management, or a related field.
- Full understanding of Construction Math concepts.
- Moderate to high proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to perform moderate to high levels of physical activity in a field-based construction environment.
- Manual dexterity to handle items and work with tools.
