Accounting Intern

About the role#

This Accounting Intern position offers hands-on experience within the full cost accounting cycle at a heavy civil construction firm. The role is designed for students seeking to develop their skills in project accounting and financial analysis. Successful completion of the internship may lead to full-time employment opportunities upon graduation.

What you'll do#

• Establish and enter job budgets into the accounting system.
• Collect delivery tickets and verify purchase order pricing.
• Process and enter invoices.
• Enter subcontractor payments and verify contractual compliance.
• Create and enter accruals for materials, trucking, and subcontractors.
• Manage project inventory and accruals.
• Compare project budgets against entered data to identify and analyze deviations in budget, revenue, and gross profit forecasts.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a 4-year degree program majoring in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
• Ability to perform calculations related to accounting and finance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to handle items and perform tasks with fingers.
