About the role#
The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is hiring a graduate-level legal intern to support our in-house legal functions. This is a full-time, temporary position based in Boston. You will work directly with the legal department to assist with research, documentation, and monitoring of regulatory developments. This role requires you to work on-site and reside within the First District.
What you'll do#
- Research and analyze legal resources including case law, statutes, regulations, and legislative history.
- Draft legal memoranda and prepare reports with thorough citations.
- Monitor pertinent legislation, regulatory developments, and relevant media reports.
- Relay legal information and research findings to colleagues and clients.
- Attend legal meetings and conference calls to provide notes or debriefings.
- Handle confidential and personal material with care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or recent completion of a graduate program.
- Academic background in fields such as Political Science, History, Philosophy, or Criminal Justice.
- Ability to conduct independent legal research and draft formal documents.
- Capability to track legislative developments and synthesize information.
Location & details#
- Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
- Schedule: Full-time, September through early December.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $18 to $36 per hour, depending on experience and academic standing.
- Requirements: Candidates must reside in the First District. Background checks, including FBI fingerprinting and watch list screenings, are required. Employees must comply with the Bank's ethics rules regarding personal financial investments.
