About the role#
The Industrial Engineer Intern supports plant operations through data-driven process improvement projects. This role provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment by applying Lean Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering principles. You will report to a Continuous Improvement Manager and work on projects designed to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
What you'll do#
- Spend time on the production floor observing operations and documenting current-state processes.
- Perform time studies, labor analysis, and basic work measurement.
- Identify waste, balance opportunities, and non-value-added activities.
- Support the development and updates of standard work.
- Assist with the maintenance of production boards and summarize performance data.
- Collect and organize production data including output, downtime, and scrap.
- Prepare reports and presentations to explain your observations and improvement recommendations.
- Communicate with operators, supervisors, and managers while participating in team meetings.
- Follow all plant safety rules, environmental requirements, and quality standards.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 2.8 GPA.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing or process improvement concepts.
- Ability to work in a production environment, including standing and walking.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and tables.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn by doing.
- Coursework or exposure to Lean Manufacturing tools is preferred.

- Schedule: Rolling, year-round internship with a consistent hourly schedule based on plant needs.
