About the role#
This is a paid, full-time co-op internship for students interested in the investment industry. You will gain experience in asset management, credit research, and portfolio analytics while working on-site in West Des Moines. The program follows an 80/10/10 structure, where the majority of your time is spent on project-based assignments, while the remainder is dedicated to networking, learning about the organization, and participating in shared internship experiences.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the day-to-day management of Farm Bureau Life and P&C Companies assets.
- Support Portfolio Managers with due diligence on prospective investment opportunities across multiple asset classes.
- Perform credit research, portfolio management, and portfolio analytics tasks.
- Engage in corporate activities to build exposure to the insurance industry and company culture.
- Complete meaningful project-based assignments and network with employees across the organization.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore, junior, or senior in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Business Administration.
- Ability to work full-time (8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday) from June to December.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience acquiring data from various sources, maintaining databases, and organizing information for analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI is preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Must be a self-starter who takes initiative.
- Genuine interest in financial markets.
