About the role#
As a Design Studio Intern at F. Schumacher & Co., you will support the design team through both creative tasks and organizational support. This role provides an opportunity to gain experience in the production and development of textiles and wallcoverings. You will work in a collaborative studio environment, balancing creative projects with technical problem-solving.
What you'll do#
- Support the design team's development process, including organizing collection boards, managing mill samples, and preparing packages.
- Create simple layouts and artwork for prints and woven designs.
- Assist with the organization required for production approvals.
- Manage and prioritize individual projects while working efficiently.
- Help prepare materials for internal meetings and presentations.
What you'll need#
- BFA in Textile Design or a related field.
- Strong hand drawing and hand painting abilities.
- Experience with Photoshop or other textile-specific software.
- Familiarity with pattern repeats, layouts, and general printing or weaving techniques.
- Enthusiasm for textiles, interior design, and design history.
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills.

- Schedule: 2 to 3 days per week, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
- Compensation: $18 to $20 per hour.
