About the role#
As a Design Studio Intern at F. Schumacher & Co., you will support the design team through both creative and organizational tasks. This role provides an opportunity to gain experience with textile and wallcovering design and production processes. You will work in a professional studio environment, balancing creative projects with technical problem-solving.
What you'll do#
- Support the design team's development process, including finding color swatches and organizing collection boards.
- Create simple layouts and artwork for prints and wovens.
- Assist with the organization of production approvals and mill samples.
- Prepare materials for internal meetings and presentations.
- Manage and prioritize projects independently.
What you'll need#
- A BFA in Textile Design or a related field.
- Strong hand drawing and hand painting abilities.
- Experience with Photoshop or other textile software.
- A detail-oriented and organized approach to tasks.
- Genuine enthusiasm for textiles and interior design.
- Familiarity with pattern repeats, layouts, and general printing or weaving techniques is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 2 days per week, with the potential for a 3rd day. Working hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch break.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship with a salary range of $18 to $20 per hour.
