About the role#
As an automation engineering student, you will work alongside experienced professionals to contribute to projects that drive business results. You will gain hands-on experience with industrial operations and exposure to the day-to-day work of engineers and scientists. This position is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary.
What you'll do#
- Design, install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot ICS equipment, including DCS, SCADA, and PLC systems.
- Prepare instrumentation diagrams, process control narratives, and I/O lists.
- Configure and monitor the ICS environment for industrial cybersecurity and mitigate potential attacks.
- Support systems infrastructure, such as planning and executing upgrades to servers, networks, and virtual machines.
- Automate processes for the team and asset to improve business results.
- Support managed engineering changes, including updating documentation and testing control system logic.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide support for plant and mine automation.
- Investigate and resolve automation system and application issues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program for Mining, Computer, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
- Availability for a work term beginning in January or May 2027, with a return to full-time studies afterward.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and a commitment to safety.
- Proficiency with Windows, MS Office, and Active Directory.
- Programming knowledge in Python, VBA, PowerShell, or SQL.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking.
- Submission of unofficial transcripts is required.
- Experience with IT/OT or past mine planning is preferred.
