About the role#
ExxonMobil is seeking an Instrument Technician Intern for the Summer 2026 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Beaumont, Texas. The intern will support the installation and maintenance of instrument control and electronic systems within the chemical plant, working in both shop and field settings.
What you'll do#
- Dismantle and troubleshoot instrumentation, replacing defective electronic or mechanical parts.
- Install and maintain various instruments, including safety critical devices, analyzers, and valves.
- Perform preventive maintenance on control systems, instrument loops, and distribution panels.
- Troubleshoot and repair electric controls, control centers, and programmable logic controls.
- Interpret blueprints, loop drawings, hook-up sheets, and electrical schematics to guide installation and repair work.
- Assemble, test, and adjust apparatus, junction boxes, and wiring according to specifications.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 50% completion towards an Associate Degree in a related field.
- Demonstrated work experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of an Instrument Technician.
- Ability to read instrument and electrical blueprints.
- Knowledge of instrumentation systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate plans clearly.
