About the role#
ExxonMobil is seeking an Instrument Technician Intern for our chemical plant in Beaumont, Texas. This internship provides hands-on experience in the installation and maintenance of instrument control and electronic systems within an industrial setting. This is a full-time, paid position for the Summer 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Dismantle, troubleshoot, and replace defective electronic or mechanical instrument parts.
- Install and maintain various instruments, including safety critical devices, analyzers, and control valves.
- Perform preventive maintenance on control systems, instrument loops, and distribution panels.
- Troubleshoot and repair electric controls, control centers, and programmable logic controllers.
- Lay out, assemble, and test new services, including junction boxes, wiring, panels, and conduit.
- Interpret blueprints, loop drawings, hook-up sheets, and electrical schematics to guide repairs and installations.
- Document calibration values and maintenance records according to safety and integrity procedures.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 50% completion towards an Associate Degree in a related field.
- Demonstrated work experience directly related to the duties of an Instrument Technician.
- Ability to read and interpret instrument and electrical blueprints.
- Knowledge of instrumentation systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate plans clearly.
- Commitment to maintaining health and safety standards for yourself and others.
