About the role#
The Business Analyst Student joins the Upstream Digital Accelerator team to help deliver digital innovation across mining and oil sands operations. You will work alongside site operators, engineers, data scientists, and developers to solve operational challenges. This role involves a mix of stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and hands-on technical work.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to identify operational needs and desired outcomes.
- Translate business requirements into user stories, process maps, acceptance criteria, and actionable work items.
- Collect, clean, and analyze operational data to identify trends and potential improvements.
- Assist in the design, prototyping, and testing of analytics, automation, AI, and software solutions.
- Define project scope, objectives, and success measures while tracking milestones and dependencies.
- Support the development of business cases, project plans, and delivery roadmaps.
- Create documentation, presentations, and training materials for various audiences.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and solution demonstrations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a university program related to business analytics, computer science, data science, software engineering, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or management information systems.
- Availability for a work term beginning in January or May 2027.
- Experience using Python and SQL for data analysis, automation, or development projects.
- Ability to translate stakeholder needs into clear requirements, user stories, or process maps.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Comfort working through ambiguity and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- Ability to document and present technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Submission of your most recent unofficial transcript with your application.
