About the role#
ESCO Maritime Solutions is seeking a Quality Engineer Summer Intern to join our team in Yaphank, New York. This full-time, paid internship offers hands-on experience within a defense and space manufacturing environment. You will work alongside Operations and Engineering teams to ensure products and processes meet required standards and specifications.
What you'll do#
- Analyze production lines and devise test procedures to identify manufacturing deficiencies.
- Develop and implement standards for the department.
- Document system workflows and analyze the current state of systems.
- Write, execute, and manage test cases.
- Participate in designing metrics for performance measurement and process improvement.
- Provide technical oversight to suppliers in areas such as process development, Lean Six Sigma tools, measurement systems, and preventive maintenance.
- Create tools and concepts for day-to-day management.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles, quality control processes, and manufacturing workflows.
- Strong analytical thinking skills to troubleshoot issues and suggest solutions.
- Ability to identify defects, inconsistencies, or process deviations.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and an aptitude for learning new software.
- Ability to document findings, write reports, and communicate effectively with teams.
- Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance (restricted to U.S. citizens).
- Preferred: Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or experience with tools such as calipers, micrometers, or CMM.
