About the role#
Epic Games is looking for a Level Design intern to join our gameplay team. You will work on an unannounced project within the Fortnite ecosystem. This role places you within a cross-discipline team to help build gameplay spaces and expand the Fortnite universe.
What you'll do#
- Work with level designers and environment artists to understand how to build successful landmarks and points of interest.
- Use the Unreal Engine and modular kits to design locations that look good and function well.
- Help the design team improve existing landmarks and points of interest.
- Participate in playtests to provide feedback and find practical solutions to design problems.
What you'll need#
- Experience working in the Unreal Engine.
- Direct experience with prop placement, lighting, atmosphere, and design markup.
- A broad knowledge of games and a strong interest in multiplayer and battle royale titles.
- Ability to communicate clearly, take feedback, and follow direction on tasks.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Media Studies.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship located on-site in Cary, North Carolina.
- Available terms include Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring 2027.
