About the role#
We are looking for a Manufacturing Production Documentation Co-Op to join our team in Chaska, Minnesota for a 6-month assignment starting in January 2027. This role focuses on improving and standardizing manufacturing documentation for our injection molding processes. You will bridge the gap between technical requirements and operator-focused clarity to ensure documentation is accurate and easy to use.
What you'll do#
- Audit existing molding documents, including SOPs and process parameters, to identify outdated or inconsistent content.
- Observe molding operations on the floor to map steps and ensure documentation reflects real-world practice.
- Build and refine documentation templates to create consistency across molding, machining, and quality departments.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, operators, and quality teams to resolve discrepancies and clarify instructions.
- Update mold setup sheets with correct part numbers, tooling, and parameters.
- Rewrite complex technical language into clear, step-by-step instructions for production teams.
- Group similar molded parts to align documentation and reduce redundancy.
- Pilot test new formats with operators and refine templates based on their feedback.
- Ensure all documents meet internal standards and regulatory requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering degree program.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from January through June 2027.
- Technical writing skills with the ability to create clear, structured instructions.
- A basic understanding of injection molding or a willingness to learn the process quickly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with Visio or flowcharting tools is helpful.
- Experience with SolidWorks or AutoCAD is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with your university requirements for participating in a co-op program.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Chaska, MN.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
- We are unable to provide immigration sponsorship for this role now or in the future.
- Physical requirements include machine-area mobility, wearing PPE on the plant floor, and the ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
