About the role#
As an intern on the Biomechanics & Safety team, you will support consultants in investigating incidents and determining root causes. You will work on a variety of projects, including transportation accidents, product failures, and personal injury claims. This role offers exposure to forensic engineering and litigation support within a collaborative team.
What you'll do#
- Assist with field investigations and site inspections under the supervision of experienced consultants.
- Conduct engineering research, collect data, and perform analysis to support ongoing projects.
- Help prepare technical reports and documentation.
- Participate in laboratory testing and analysis activities.
- Organize and analyze evidence and technical data.
- Attend client meetings and internal technical reviews.
- Perform additional duties to support the multidisciplinary consulting team.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent completion of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Civil/Structural, or Bioengineering, or Materials Science.
- A GPA of 3.30 or higher is preferred.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and take initiative on assigned tasks.
- A valid driver's license and availability to travel for field work.
- Familiarity with CAD or engineering analysis software is a plus, as is prior laboratory or research experience.

- Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan.
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship.
- The term is rolling.
- This role involves physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds, occasional lifting up to 75 pounds, and working in various environments such as industrial sites or damaged structures.
