About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to work within our security department during the summer of 2027. You will support our security analysts and engineers while managing assigned projects. We expect interns to contribute to our security posture and communicate progress to the Security Lead. This role includes participating in company-wide intern activities and creating a final presentation on the skills you acquired.
What you'll do#
- Assist security analysts and engineers with ongoing programs and projects.
- Handle requests for help from business units and internal customers.
- Translate technical details into high-level summaries for the CISO and management.
- Manage tasks independently and ensure they are completed accurately and on time.
- Proactively learn about our company and the security department.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program or higher in Computer Science, Computer Security, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with Windows and UNIX platforms like Linux, AIX, or Solaris.
- Working knowledge of networks, TCP/IP, and related services.
- Familiarity with security concepts, trends, and threats.
- Basic knowledge of security controls for operating systems, applications, and network devices.
- Familiarity with cryptography, PKI, firewalls, and identity management tools like AD or Oracle Identity Manager.
- Exposure to virus detection, endpoint security, SIEM tools, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability scanners.
- Experience with programming languages, scripting, and web application security vulnerabilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site at our Home Office in Birmingham, Alabama.
- The term runs from June 7, 2027, through July 30, 2027.
