About the role#
Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. is hiring a Survey Intern for our team in Lawrence, Kansas. This is a full-time, on-site, paid position with a rolling term. You will work alongside an experienced Surveying Technician to gain hands-on field experience, learn construction flow, and understand in-depth plan reading. This role is ideal for students or those pursuing a career in construction, as many interns transition into full-time technician, project manager, or estimator roles.
What you'll do#
- Set up, adjust, and operate surveying instruments.
- Calibrate sites for GPS rovers and GPS Machine Control.
- Perform construction layout for storm and sanitary structures, water lines, and pavement.
- Provide topographic and cross-section surveys for planning and payment quantities.
- Prepare documentation of all surveying activities.
- Coordinate tasks with job site and operations personnel.
What you'll need#
- At least two years of construction industry experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to various project sites.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrain.
- Ability to work extended hours as required by the workload.
