About the role#
As a Software Product Management Intern at Emerson Test & Measurement, you will work alongside product managers, engineers, and business professionals to shape software products that solve customer challenges. This internship provides hands-on experience with product strategy, customer discovery, market analysis, development, and product launches. You will own a defined project and contribute to initiatives that create value for customers while building a foundation for your career.
What you'll do#
- Support customer and market discovery activities by turning feedback into insights and user personas.
- Conduct research on competitors and industry trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design and engineering, to clarify product requirements.
- Assist in evaluating features and reviewing trade-offs to keep projects aligned with objectives.
- Prepare for product launches by developing release materials and internal communications.
- Analyze data and user feedback after a launch to identify potential enhancements.
- Explore new customer workflows using data, analytics, and artificial intelligence.
- Develop and present findings, recommendations, and project outcomes to leadership.
- Take full ownership of a specific project and deliver measurable results.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Product Management, Business, or a related field.
- Ability to communicate technical and business concepts clearly to various audiences.
- Experience applying analytical thinking, research methods, or software development skills through coursework or previous projects.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment where priorities may change.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Interest in understanding how software products are developed, delivered, and adopted.
Preferred qualifications
- Exposure to product strategy, software lifecycles, or market analysis.
- Experience with data analysis tools, visualization platforms, or business intelligence solutions.
- Familiarity with Agile practices or software development methodologies.
- Knowledge of test and measurement systems, embedded technologies, or industrial software.
- Experience creating presentations, demonstrations, or project deliverables.
- Interest in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.
