About the role#
This is a paid summer internship within a branch underwriting department at EMC Insurance Companies. You will work remotely if you reside in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Rhode Island. The role offers a chance to gain experience in insurance underwriting while learning about our business processes and products.
What you'll do#
- Help underwriters gather the information required to evaluate new business and renewal submissions.
- Handle correspondence with agents and other external sources.
- Develop an understanding of the insurance underwriting process.
- Learn about the culture and operations at EMC.
What you'll need#
- You are a business major with an interest in marketing, finance, or insurance.
- Completion of your junior year is preferred.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.
- An interest in pursuing a career in property casualty insurance.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Analytical ability and the capacity for sound decision-making and problem-solving.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with personal computers.
Location & details#
- This internship is based in Rhode Island and is a part-time position.
- The role is remote for candidates living in CT, MA, or RI.
- This is a paid position for Summer 2027.
