About the role#
Elk Valley Resources is seeking a Co-op student for the HRIS team to support core human resources systems and data infrastructure. This role is based in Calgary, Alberta, for the Fall 2026 term, with a duration of 8 or 12 months. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Maintain and support core HR systems to ensure the application of HR policies and programs.
- Investigate and troubleshoot data and system issues in coordination with end-users, IT, and external vendors.
- Perform data audits to ensure data integrity.
- Provide project support for HRIS initiatives, including data migration and transformation.
- Assist with the development of project dashboards and reports, including testing coordination.
- Create and evaluate ideas to improve business processes and technology usage.
- Adhere to all health and safety programs and policies.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Business (with a concentration in HR or Management Information Systems) or Computer Science.
- Proficiency in Power BI and Power Apps.
- A strong interest in data analysis, critical thinking, and translating data into actionable insights.
- Experience or interest in building pragmatic solutions to improve business processes.
- Strong planning, organization, and communication skills with the ability to handle confidential information in compliance with privacy laws.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Capacity to learn new technologies and platforms quickly and accurately.
