Environmental Social Responsibility Co-op

About the role#

Elk Valley Resources is seeking an Environmental Social Responsibility Co-op student to join the Coal Division in Sparwood, BC for the Fall 2026 term. This full-time, on-site position focuses on supporting Indigenous relations, public engagement, and social responsibility initiatives within a mining environment.

What you'll do#

• Manage the Impact Management and Benefits Agreement (IMBA) workplan to support Indigenous working groups.
• Monitor, evaluate, and report on performance and activities related to Indigenous agreements.
• Support the execution of annual and special IMBA reviews and coordinate joint working sessions.
• Prepare and execute public engagement plans.
• Conduct policy and issue research and prepare communications plans.
• Manage data within the social tracking and reporting system.
• Provide support for event planning and preparation.
• Adhere to all health and safety programs and policies.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing an Undergraduate degree in Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies, Business Administration, Commerce, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Political Science, Communications, or Public Health.
• A valid Class 5 Driver’s License or extra-provincial equivalent.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to prioritize work under pressure with high attention to detail.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with multidisciplinary teams.
