About the role#
Elk Valley Resources is seeking Environmental Science Co-op students for an 8 or 12-month term beginning in September 2026. This role is based in the Elk Valley of British Columbia and involves supporting various departments, including Water Strategy, Terrestrial Science, Land Strategy, and Engineering. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
- Update and manage environmental data and reporting in the Environmental Data Management System (EMS).
- Assist with on-site research, development, monitoring, sampling, and reporting for environmental reclamation and geotechnical compliance.
- Support water movement tracking, management, and treatment.
- Perform project management tasks, including safety oversight, contractor supervision, and project planning.
- Participate in wildlife monitoring projects and updates to the Biodiversity Management Plan.
- Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to improve business operations.
What you'll need#
- Currently working towards an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Forestry, or Hydrology.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License without restrictions.
- Ability to operate vehicles at mine operations in various weather conditions and terrain.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and a willingness to work outdoors.

- Location: Sparwood, British Columbia, Canada.
- Term: September 2026 start date for 8 or 12 months.
- Salary: $4,275 - $5,417 CAD per month, commensurate with completed academic semesters and prior co-op experience.
