About the role#
Elk Valley Resources is seeking a Human Resources Co-op student for the Fall 2026 term. This full-time, paid position is based in Sparwood, British Columbia, and offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a mining environment. Students will receive mentorship from industry specialists and financial assistance for travel expenses and co-op fees.
What you'll do#
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
- Contribute to the application of Human Resources policies, procedures, salary and benefits administration, organizational communications, and performance management.
- Collaborate on research and report writing for the human resources department.
- Assist with planning and executing new hire orientation and company events.
- Lead or support ongoing Human Resources projects.
- Complete administrative duties, including preparing communications, updating documentation, and filing.
- Create and evaluate ideas to improve business processes.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an Undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License or extra-provincial equivalent (without learner's restrictions preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Experience with HR programs or software is considered an asset.
- A motivated, self-starting approach with the ability to prioritize work under pressure, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate attention to detail.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

- Compensation: $4,117 - $5,192 CAD per month, commensurate with academic progress and prior co-op experience.
