About the role#
The Creative Innovations team at Electronic Arts develops core pipeline technologies for character deformation, facial rigging, and digital likeness. As an AI Engineer Intern, you will focus on prototyping and integrating machine learning models and neural networks into production animation workflows. You will work alongside software engineers, technical artists, and AI scientists to build tools that automate character deformation and improve artist workflows.
What you'll do#
- Design, train, and evaluate machine learning models for 3D character deformation and automated facial performance.
- Write application code and train neural networks using raw 3D capture data and high-fidelity, artist-tuned reference assets.
- Build and refine models that predict blendshapes, create mesh deformations, and automate landmark tracking.
- Integrate AI systems into the character pipeline stack.
- Write production-quality Python code using USD schemas to connect training environments with digital content creation software.
- Package and deploy code and model environments using Docker.
- Experiment with AI developer agents to accelerate coding, testing, and pipeline automation tasks.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelors degree program in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Graphics, or a related technical discipline.
- Graduation date no earlier than December 2027.
- Practical programming skills in Python.
- Solid foundation in machine learning, specifically deep learning and neural network architectures.
- Experience training, evaluating, and fine-tuning models using PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Ability to handle both noisy raw data and curated datasets.
- Working knowledge of 3D geometry, linear algebra, and coordinate transformations.
- Experience containerizing applications with Docker.
- Experience collaborating through Git and modern version control platforms.
- Clear technical communication.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
Location & details#
- Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
