Mechanical Engineering Support Coop

About the role#

The Mechanical Engineering Support Coop will work directly with the Mechanical Engineering Manager to assist in delivering standards, procedures, efficiency tools, and strategic initiatives. This role involves collaborating with engineering staff to support internal workflows, design documentation, and the advancement of technical systems.

What you'll do#

• Analyze existing engineering workflows to create relevant procedures, work instructions, and process flow maps.
• Develop instruction videos and documentation for mechanical and controls engineering processes.
• Produce working drawings, detail drawings, and bills of materials using SolidWorks.
• Analyze designs, drawings, and models to identify opportunities for internal design reuse.
• Manage files within SolidWorks PDM and populate CAD data into engineering design libraries.
• Assist stakeholders in creating technical content for the central knowledge base and advancing new technologies.
• Ensure project milestones are met and coordinate with relevant departments regarding scheduling.
• Create productivity tools using SolidWorks and maintain adherence to design best practices.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a post-secondary engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent program (specializing in mechanical, systems, mechatronics, or robotics and automation).
• Post-secondary level proficiency in SolidWorks and MS Office.
• Knowledge of developing SolidWorks macros and design tools.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish priorities and work independently.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
