Controls Software Design Co-op

About the role#

As a Controls Software Design Co-op, you will report to the Software Design Supervisor and contribute to machine concepts, control software design, and system integration. You will work on programming and integration tasks involving PLCs, PCs, robotics, motion controllers, vision systems, and lasers to support custom automated manufacturing solutions.

What you'll do#

• Design and develop PLC or PC-based software programs tailored to specific customer and project requirements.
• Assist in debugging and commissioning control systems at Eclipse facilities and during installation at customer sites.
• Select, test, and integrate hardware and software components, including robots, sensors, and motion controllers.
• Provide thorough testing of machine functionality to verify software completeness.
• Prepare accurate project documentation and advise customers on technical problem-solving.
• Provide project-specific training to customers regarding machine operation and programming principles.
• Collaborate with the Controls Engineering department to improve integration methods for safety, functionality, and cost-efficiency.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a post-secondary engineering degree or diploma program, specializing in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering.
• Advanced computer skills in Excel.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish priorities and work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and coordinate activities across departments.

• Compensation: $24 - $28 per hour.
