Mechanical Design Co-op

About the role#

The Mechanical Design Co-op works directly with the Mechanical Design Lead and design teams to support the development of custom automated manufacturing solutions. This role focuses on ensuring project milestones are met on budget while contributing to the design and documentation of specialized equipment.

What you'll do#

• Perform engineering calculations for machine and tool designs, including strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, and force.
• Produce working drawings, detail drawings, and bills of materials using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Analyze designs and systems to ensure compliance with applicable standards such as OSHA and CE.
• Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, machining techniques, and finishes.
• Examine the feasibility of machine operations and sequences.
• Liaise with vendors to obtain technical information and specifications.
• Communicate design changes and contribute documentation for project execution.
• Collaborate with team members and participate in group meetings to ensure project milestones are met.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a post-secondary engineering degree or diploma program, specializing in mechanical, electrical, systems, or computer engineering.
• Understanding of robotics, control systems, and machine operation.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to establish priorities.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Self-starter mindset with professional written and verbal communication skills.
