    About the role#

    The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Co-op supports the implementation and execution of HSE programs at the Cambridge, Ontario facilities. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, this role assists in maintaining internal standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).

    What you'll do#

    • Support the implementation and maintenance of HSE programs and communications.
    • Act as a health and safety resource for employees, supervisors, and department management.
    • Conduct and support HSE risk assessments to identify hazards and corrective actions.
    • Support the Job Hazard Analysis process for projects and departments.
    • Participate in safety inspections, audits, and in-house ergonomic assessments.
    • Maintain GHS labelling for shop floor chemicals and manage WHMIS binders.
    • Support JHSC requirements, including workplace inspections and committee meetings.
    • Assist with health and safety training courses and maintain the training certification matrix.
    • Procure necessary safety supplies and PPE.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a University degree or College diploma/certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration.
    • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
    • Knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations and standards.
    • Strong organizational skills and professional verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to work in both shop floor and office environments.
    • Experience with machine, lifting equipment, and ergonomic risk assessments is preferred.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Employment Type: Full-time.
    • Compensation: $22 - $26 per hour.
    • Travel: Expectation of travel to other locations within Cambridge; use of a vehicle is preferred.
