Electrical Engineering - Hardware Design Co-op

About the role#

This co-op position offers hands-on experience within the Electrical Shop team. You will work alongside licensed electricians and automation professionals to build advanced manufacturing systems. The role focuses on gaining practical exposure to industrial electrical practices and contributing to the assembly of custom automation solutions.

What you'll do#

• Interpret and understand electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Assist with pulling wires through conduit and the installation of conduit systems, including threading, bending, and cutting.
• Support the fabrication, assembly, and installation of electrical components into control cabinets.
• Perform engineering calculations, such as short-circuit current ratings or panel heat loss and cooling.
• Provide electrical assistance during various stages of system integration.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure project milestones are met while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Work alongside licensed electricians, seeking guidance to resolve technical challenges.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a post-secondary program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in automation and industrial electrical systems.
• Commitment to safety and high attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Familiarity with electrical schematics and wiring principles is an asset.
• Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software is an asset.

• Compensation: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour.
