About the role#
The Public Relations Intern works under the supervision of the Director of Communications to gain hands-on experience in aviation and aerospace media. This role focuses on supporting EAA operations through research, writing, and administrative tasks. You will contribute to the team while developing your professional skills in a practical environment.
What you'll do#
- Write news releases and media sheets for staff review.
- Track media clips to monitor EAA coverage.
- Coordinate radio and print media coverage and set up interviews.
- Conduct research using the internet, library resources, and specialized software.
- Compile and update aviation statistics.
- Provide administrative support, including filing and typing correspondence.
- Assist media relations staff during the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh event.
- Support daily department operations and uphold EAA safety practices.
What you'll need#
- Current student majoring in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with basic social media tools.
- Ability to write clearly and deliver persuasive verbal communications.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Capacity to learn and use new technologies.
- A collaborative approach and a positive attitude toward problem-solving.
- Ability to work under pressure.
