About the role#
As a Business Development Intern, you will support the sales team with the planning and execution of AirVenture. You will assist with the full sales cycle, from proposal development to delivering on contractual obligations. This role requires a mix of office-based project management and on-site event execution. You will work in an office setting through May and move to the event grounds for the remainder of the summer.
What you'll do#
- Support logistics for AirVenture, including creating sponsor profiles and post-event recap reports.
- Organize inventory for sponsor venues and maintain project checklists.
- Collaborate with the sales team to understand sponsor agreements.
- Manage on-site sponsor check-in and provide troubleshooting support.
- Build relationships with sponsors and manage hospitality spaces to ensure a premium experience.
- Communicate event updates and address sponsor feedback.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting event materials, setting up signage, and maintaining cleanliness in sponsor areas.
- Follow safe practices in the workplace and aviation environment.
What you'll need#
- Current student pursuing a degree in Event or Project Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality, or a related field.
- Strong organization, analytical, and multi-tasking skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and data entry.
- Professional communication skills, including email and phone etiquette.
- A proactive, can-do approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks like standing, walking, bending, and squatting for extended periods.
- Previous office experience is preferred.
- An interest in aviation or previous AirVenture volunteer experience is a plus.
