About the role#
The Cybersecurity Threat and Vulnerability Analyst intern will focus on identifying, analyzing, prioritizing, and eradicating cyber threats and vulnerabilities within the Duke Energy environment. This role involves analyzing threat information and ensuring it is disseminated to the appropriate teams for action. You will support tools used for vulnerability scanning and configuration monitoring while adhering to established processes and procedures defined by Cybersecurity leadership.
What you'll do#
- Identify and prioritize cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
- Analyze threat information and share findings with internal and external teams.
- Assist with the maintenance and operation of vulnerability scanning and configuration monitoring tools.
- Follow defined processes and procedures set by the Threat and Vulnerability Management team.
- Provide technical briefings to staff and management regarding threats and vulnerabilities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program related to Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics.
- Experience researching and assessing cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
- Knowledge of attack methods such as DDoS, brute force, and spoofing.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity domains, security practices, and cyber defense models.
- Proficiency in Windows and UNIX/Linux command line scripting.
- A demonstrated commitment to self-study and maintaining technical proficiency in the cybersecurity field.
