About the role#
The Engineer I position is an entry-level role within the engineering hierarchy. You will work under supervision to solve problems within your area of specialization while developing the skills necessary to work with greater independence. This role involves applying fundamental concepts and procedures to support engineering operations.

What you'll need#
- Current or former Duke Energy intern or co-op experience.
- A Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program (a Master's degree in Engineering may be considered as an alternative).
- A passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.
- An understanding of basic project management principles.
- Familiarity with basic engineering theories and research practices.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

- Location: Charlotte, North Carolina.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Travel: 5-15% of the time, including potential visits to field sites or plants.
