About the role#
As a Materials and Chemistry Engineering Co-op, you will contribute to the research and development of microsystems and advanced materials. You will work on projects involving hardware, software, and chemistry research while supporting quality processes across the engineering life cycle. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience with specialized laboratory equipment and engineering systems.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and enhance engineering solutions for technical challenges.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to build and test systems, hardware, and components.
- Implement, test, and analyze systems, providing documentation support throughout the process.
- Generate test reports that include plots, tables, evaluation criteria, and conclusions based on collected data.
- Learn to operate and interpret data from instruments including DSC, DMA, TMA, Instron, TGA, GC-MS, FT-IR, NMR, and rheometry.
- Complete assignments designed to build knowledge of equipment, facilities, and engineering procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited full-time undergraduate or graduate engineering program, such as Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Ability to work full-time for a 6-month period.
- Strong computer skills, specifically in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A strong work ethic with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments, risks, and vulnerabilities.
