About the role#
DOWL is seeking an intern to join our Construction Engineering and Inspection team in Bozeman. This position provides engineering assistance for the management, administration, and inspection of civil infrastructure projects. You will work alongside skilled engineers and construction professionals to support the delivery of transportation and heavy civil projects.
What you'll do#
- Research and document existing site conditions through site visits.
- Perform engineering calculations to support construction projects.
- Monitor construction sites to track project quality and progress.
- Assist survey crews with field operations.
- Perform inspections for transportation and heavy civil infrastructure.
- Help with in-service inspections for structures such as bridges, walls, culverts, and tanks.
- Complete other engineering-related tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one to two years of college-level coursework toward a degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or construction engineering technology. Two years of coursework is preferred.
- Prior work experience in construction or civil engineering is helpful.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions, analyze data, and draw conclusions.
- Strong mathematical skills, including geometry, trigonometry, and statistical analysis.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and the public.
- A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Ability to prioritize daily tasks and special projects.
