You will work at the intersection of engineering simulation, software development, and data science to build digital engineering capabilities that accelerate innovation. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bloomington, Minnesota.
What you'll do#
- Own a technical project from initial problem definition to final recommendations.
- Build and evaluate Python-based workflows using version-controlled methods.
- Prepare, clean, and analyze simulation or laboratory datasets while documenting assumptions.
- Develop and test models, including deep-learning surrogates, reduced-order models, and data-ingestion tools.
- Create parameterized geometry workflows for simulation setup and execution.
- Compare simulation results against baseline engineering methods using technical metrics.
- Collaborate with simulation engineers and subject-matter experts to interpret requirements.
- Document architecture and methods so your work can be extended after the internship.
- Provide progress updates and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Follow data access and security requirements.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a graduate degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, computer science, data science, or applied mathematics.
- Coursework or project experience using Python for numerical methods, machine learning, or scientific computing.
