About the role#
Parker Hannifin is seeking an AI/ML Engineering Co-op for the Motion Systems Group and Hydraulic Valve Systems Division. This role is based in Elyria, Ohio, and requires an on-site presence for a minimum of two semesters starting in Fall 2026.
What you'll do#
- Prototype AI and machine learning solutions for manufacturing automation and product development.
- Create generative-AI workflows to produce and validate CNC G-code from CAD/CAM inputs.
- Integrate physics-informed techniques, such as PINNs, into models to improve reliability.
- Build OCR and document-ingestion pipelines that connect to downstream ML systems.
- Support Unity and VR visualizations as needed.
- Deliver project demos, technical reports, and handoff-ready code.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s program for AI/ML or a related field, with a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Local availability to work on-site in Elyria, Ohio.
- Practical experience with Python and ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience with physics-constrained learning, specifically PINNs.
- Coursework or hands-on exposure to machine learning, deep learning, data structures, algorithms, CAD/CAM, manufacturing processes, and numerical methods.
- Simulation experience using Ansys Mechanical or Fluent.
- Familiarity with CNC concepts including G-code, toolpaths, feeds, and speeds.
- Experience with generative AI, LLMs, code generation, or transformer models.
- Exposure to MLOps, model deployment, automated testing, and OCR.
- Experience with Unity, VR development, or 3D visualization.
- Familiarity with Git, Docker, and cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
