Mechanical Design Engineering Intern

About the role#

This is a full-time, paid Mechanical Design Engineering internship based in Accident, Maryland. You will work under the Mechanical Engineering Manager to support the design, development, and troubleshooting of hardware products used in the utility and high-voltage testing industries. This role offers exposure to the full product lifecycle, from initial definition and design to implementation and qualification.

What you'll do#

• Define and design solutions for various engineering projects.
• Develop mechanical hardware solutions based on defined design requirements.
• Create 3D mechanical drawings using SolidWorks.
• Generate bills of material (BOMs) for engineering projects.
• Collaborate with and support Transformer Design Engineers and Electrical Design Engineers.

What you'll need#

• Current pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering or an associated engineering field.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office, with a foundational knowledge of mechanical component design.
• Ability to identify technical problems, analyze potential solutions, and implement resolutions.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
• Self-motivated approach with the ability to learn new skills quickly and manage multiple tasks.
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently and 50 pounds with assistance.
